Nevaeh's Boho Western Save the Date Quinceañera at Fort Worth Botanic Garden

Before every quinceañera celebration, there's the moment the invitations go out — and Nevaeh knew her Save the Date had to set the tone. We spent a bright, sunny morning at the Fort Worth Botanic Garden, working through the Japanese Garden, the Moon Bridge, and the stepping stones across the koi pond. The goal was simple: capture Nevaeh's personality so clearly that every friend, cousin, and tía who pulled her Save the Date off the fridge was already hyped for the main event.

The Concept

Nevaeh's direction was all-in on a boho western aesthetic — soft, but fun, and unmistakably Texan. No formal gown, no ceremony feel. This was the announcement shoot, six to nine months out from the event, meant to live on invitations, mailers, and Instagram.

The palette leaned into burnt orange, dark denim, and cream, warming up against the deep green of the gardens. It's the kind of look that reads as both effortless and intentional — a mood board come to life. Boho western Save the Date sessions have become one of the most-requested styles we shoot across DFW, and Nevaeh nailed the brief.

The Outfit

The centerpiece was a burnt orange lace crop top with long, gathered peasant sleeves and a square neckline — all romance and warm color. She paired it with classic dark wash bootcut jeans featuring embellished back pocket detailing (a staple of Texas-boho styling) and cream pointed-toe booties to finish the look.

Hair worn down and loose, minimal jewelry, a single stacked ring. The outfit walks a clean line between boho softness and western grit — a specifically DFW sensibility that translates beautifully from announcement photo to party-day candids.

The Location

The Fort Worth Botanic Garden (3220 Botanic Garden Blvd, Fort Worth, TX 76107) is the oldest botanic garden in Texas and one of the single best DFW locations for a Save the Date session. The 120-acre campus packs 23 specialty gardens into one walkable campus, and the Japanese Garden inside is the crown jewel — koi ponds, sculpted hillsides, dramatic stonework, and the iconic Moon Bridge arching over the water.

For Nevaeh's session we worked the stepping stones across the pond, the Moon Bridge itself, and the tree-lined paths, all within a few hundred feet of each other. A note for anyone planning their own shoot at Fort Worth Botanical Gardens: a photography pass is required, and morning light through the Japanese Garden canopy is unmatched.

Favorite Moments

A few frames from the morning that earned their spot in the final gallery:

  • Nevaeh mid-pose on the stepping stones, reflection rippling in the koi pond below

  • The confident lean on the Moon Bridge railing, warm sun catching the lace on her sleeves

  • A full-body frame along the garden path, late-morning light filtering through the foliage

  • The unguarded laugh between poses — the candid frame that always makes the Save the Date final cut

What's Next

The Save the Date is only chapter one of Nevaeh's quinceañera story. Her formal preshoot (the gown session, roughly three months before the event) and the quinceañera itself are both on the books.
